Miss World Guyana Terms & Conditions
1 Miss World Guyana (hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”) is organized by Majesty International (hereinafter referred to as the “the Organization”). These Terms and Conditions shall apply to all stages of the Competition.
2. All Applicants must complete the Official Entry Form and attend a casting call which is held annually or at any time to be determined by the Organization and at a venue to be determined by the Organization.
3. The Competition is open to all single natural-born female citizens of Guyana and/or of Guyanese heritage who shall be not less than 16 years, 6 months of age or not more than 25 years and 364 days of age on the date of the Miss World Final in the relevant year or by special consideration – applicants below 18 years of age are required to obtain their parent’s/legal guardian’s consent on the Official Entry Form.
4. Applicants are expected to pay registration and participation fees to the organization and must refer to their welcome package for more details.
5. The Organization reserves the right to reject any application that fails to satisfy the following requirements:
- usually uses the prefix “Miss” before her name.
- must never have been through any ceremony either valid or invalid, and whether civil, religious or tribal, which is recognized as a marriage ceremony in any part of the world and has never given birth to a child.
- shall be of good moral character
- shall also have the ability to show compassion and intelligence and speak intelligently in public places.
- shall be of or above-average height of the Guyanese woman
- must personally see, feel, and know she is beautiful inside and out
- shall be a person whose background is not likely to bring into disrepute/negative controversy to the Miss World Guyana, its organization, affiliations, sponsors or the Miss World Organization
- warrants that her performances shall not infringe the rights (including copyrights) of or defame or embarrass any person, firm or company related to her journey as a contender for Miss World Guyana title
- warrants that she is not representing or has not represented Guyana in any international pageant or related competition. **waiver available at the organization’s discretion.
- warrants that she has no commitments for participating or appearing in any other pageant system or dor any other pageant system during her finalist reign and warrants that she has completed all transitions to relinquish to complete her reign. **waiver would be considered if requested in writing**
- warrants that she is not representing or has not represented Guyana in any international pageant or related competition/pageant after winning any local and/or international pageant or related competition
- warrants that she has not been charged or convicted in any court of law in Guyana or any country.
- warrants that she is not a fugitive nor is she wanted by any local or international law enforcement agency
6. The Applicant agrees that the Organization shall have the exclusive right to take photographs, record or otherwise reproduce all or any part of her image/likeness/content, meetings, performances or other appearances in connection with the Competition.
7. The Applicant hereby consents and agrees to the Organization to record her performance(s) at all stages of the Competition, including the performance review sessions, whether such recording is audio, audio-visual, note-taking, or in the form of photographs/video. This further acknowledges that the Organization retains the right to edit and telecast any recordings made.
8. The Applicant hereby assigns to the Organization absolutely, all vested, contingent and future rights in her performances and the Organization shall own the sole and exclusive rights to such recordings and performances. The Applicant further agrees to complete any formalities or sign any documents necessary to perfect this assignment/engagement.
9. By participating in the Competition, the Applicant irrevocably and unconditionally grants to the Organization sole managerial rights as well as all consents and waivers necessary for the Organization to record and use her performances, appearances, conferences, meetings, in any manner whatsoever and in any part of the world as the Organization shall in its sole discretion deem fit. The Applicant acknowledges that the Organization shall be at liberty to publish and otherwise use any recording made by the Organization, including without limitation audio recordings, visual recordings, meetings, videos, and photographs for the promotion, record keeping and publicity of the Competition.
10. The selection and number of judges at each stage of the Competition shall be at the Organization’s sole discretion and the judges’ decision at all stages of the Competition is final. No inquiries, or appeals, verbal or written, shall be entertained. The Applicant shall accept and abide by any and all decisions made by the Organization the panel of judges concerning, without limitation, decisions relating to the Competition, interviews with the Applicant, the award of prizes (if any) and/or artist contracts (if any) and the division of prizes (if any) in the event of a tie.
11. The Applicant must not create, upload, post, transmit, record(audio/video), share, screenshot, store, or otherwise make available any content/publication/media/digital media/medium/material/data that the organization deem, at any time and from time to time in our sole discretion, harmful, threatening, unlawful, defamatory, infringing, abusive, inflammatory, harassing, vulgar, obscene, fraudulent, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, hateful, malicious, or racially, ethnically, sexually, or otherwise objectionable. Legal action will be enforced inclusive of financial liability limited to the expenses already incurred by the Organization inclusive of legal costs. Accepting the terms and conditions herein means you are also abiding by our social media policy.
12. The Organization shall provide a commensurate consequence to any applicant who withdraws, for any reason whatsoever, from any stage of the Competition. – once selected as a Finalist. Legal action will be enforced inclusive of financial liability limited to the expenses already incurred per Finalist
13. In the event the Organization deems it necessary to re-record any part of any round of the Competition, the Applicant agrees to be prepared to perform again for re-assessment.
14. While participating in the Competition, the Applicant shall not, without the prior written consent of the Organization, enter into any agreement with or participate in any other program produced by any person/company in the business of producing, transmitting, or exhibiting programs for or on television/radio/print/web locally and internationally.
15. The Applicant shall make a full and honest disclosure of information as requested in the Official Entry Form.
16. All photographs submitted during every segment shall be the property of the Organization which may, without reference to any Applicant, use such photographs for any reasonable purpose or publicity.
17. All information submitted in the Official Entry Form shall be deemed to be current. In the event of any change of such details, the Applicant must notify the Organization immediately.
18. The Organization shall be under no liability whatsoever to the Applicant or her personal representatives, in respect to any loss, damage or injury to life or property sustained by the Applicant at any stage of the Competition, unless such loss, damage or injury is caused by the Organization’s gross negligence.
19. Applicants who fail to attend sponsors’ visits, training sessions, debriefs, rehearsals, fashion shows, photo shoots, hair and grooming sessions, recording sessions, coronation night or other special events related to the Organization shall be disqualified if the reasons for such absence are found to be unacceptable by the Organization. The Organization reserves the right to provide further consequences to such failure.
20. The Applicant shall at all times comply strictly with the Organization’s specifications/requirements (whether oral or written) as to the Applicant’s appearance, behavior, skills, attire and/or accessories. Failure to meet such specifications/requirements shall result in disqualification.
21. For the avoidance of doubt, the Organization reserves the right to disqualify any Applicant from the Competition on the grounds of breach of our terms and conditions, undesirable conduct and/or appearance.
22. The Applicant shall not, without the prior written consent of the Organization, speak to the press or other media nor give any interviews or comments relating to the Competition, the Applicant herself or other Applicants nor disclose any information whatsoever relating to the Miss World Guyana 2022 activities.
23. The Organization reserves the right to substitute, add to or alter any item on the list of prizes offered before the Finals of the Competition. All prizes won by the Applicant during the Competition shall not be transferable or exchangeable for cash. The Organization maintains a Winner-Takes-All policy unless advised and promoted otherwise
24. Non-compliance with or breach of one or any of these Terms and Conditions shall immediately disqualify the Applicant from further participation at any stage of the Competition and beyond, including the international competition, the post-international competition leg and any cash and prizes presented shall be forfeited.
25. The Applicant warrants that she is free to enter, participate and perform in the Competition, including the International Competition and is under no restriction, limitation or disability (contractual or otherwise) to do so.
26. No Applicant shall at any time during the Competition commercially exploit or aid the commercial exploitation of her participation in the Competition in any way whatsoever.
27. There shall be no claims against the Organization, in the event the Competition is annulled, canceled or postponed by circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Organization.
28. The Organization reserves the right to amend or vary any of these Terms and Conditions without prior notice to any Applicant.
29. All Applicants, by participating in the Competition, agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
30. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Guyana as well as in accordance with the Miss World organization’s Specific Terms & Conditions.
