Whether or not you should compete is entirely up to you. Many candidates have joined Miss World Guyana to build their confidence, and for many, the experience has positively impacted their self-esteem and personal growth while others, not so much. However, it’s important to recognize that pageantry can be challenging, and if you’re easily affected by external opinions or criticism, it could be a difficult journey.

Confidence is something that can be developed and strengthened over time, but it’s also essential to have a strong sense of self before entering the competition. If your confidence is easily shaken or influenced by outside chatter, it might not provide the foundation needed for good sportsmanship and resilience.

That being said, It is up to you to believe Miss World Guyana offers a supportive environment with opportunities for personal development and mentorship. If you’re looking to grow and challenge yourself, and you’re willing to embrace the journey with an open mind, this competition could be a great opportunity to build your confidence. However, it’s important to be honest with yourself about your readiness to face potential challenges along the way.

We understand that previous experiences in pageants can leave lasting impressions, and we deeply regret that you’ve had a negative one. Miss World Guyana (MWG) is committed to providing a supportive, respectful, and empowering environment for all our candidates. MWG emphasizes the importance of community, mentorship, and personal development. We understand that perceptions of the national director’s involvement can vary, but it’s important to base your views on direct experiences rather than hearsay. The national director’s work speaks for itself. With decades of experience in the industry, starting from humble beginnings as a sponsor for local pageants in Guyana, she has attained a few notable local titles and placements under her belt before becoming Miss World’s national director —who have stayed in contact with her can attest to her hands-on involvement, high standards, and commitment to excellence.

Since becoming Guyana’s national director for Miss World in 2013, she has led the organization to achieve two top 10 finalists placements and a top 40 semifinalist placement at Miss World. Additionally, she has secured placements in many of the Miss World challenge competitions. Known as a high achiever, she expects nothing less from those in her charge.

We encourage you to get to know the national director on both a personal and professional level to form your own opinion. If you have specific concerns or suggestions, please communicate them directly with our team. Open dialogue is key to resolving any issues and enhancing the overall experience for everyone involved. Absolutely not. The Miss World Guyana crown cannot be bought. It is a cherished symbol of the Victoria Regia, representing the essence of every Guyanese woman. The crown has already been paid for by the national director and was crafted with immense care, talent, and dedication by the exceptionally gifted 20-year-old jeweller, Sachin Ramdehol of D&S Ramdeholl and Son Jewellery.

The crown is made with thousands of Swarovski crystals, symbolizing the lily’s natural water element, standing tall among Guyana’s three rivers, and is adorned with Guyana’s rose quartz. The four petals of the crown represent the pillars of strength, purpose, confidence, and dignity.

This crown is not just a piece of jewellery; it’s a masterpiece that embodies the values and pride of our nation. Each national winner must embody impeccable values, including confidence and purpose, and is honored to wear the crown during her year of reign. This crown is handed down from one national winner to the next, symbolizing the continuity of these values.

The integrity of the Miss World Guyana competition is paramount, and no one can buy their way to the crown. It is earned through dedication, purpose, and a commitment to the values that Miss World Guyana stands for.

We understand that such opinions can arise, but it’s important to look at the facts and the dedication behind the Miss World Guyana franchise. The franchise is deeply committed to the mission and values of Miss World Guyana, including the Beauty with a Purpose initiative, which focuses on meaningful social impact and personal development. To date, collectively, we have raised over 60 million dollars.

While financial aspects are a part of running any organization, our primary focus is on fostering an environment where candidates can thrive, grow, and represent Guyana with pride. While we may struggle from time to time depending on various personalities, the passion for empowering young women and contributing to their personal and professional growth is at the heart of our work.

We believe all professional participants, sponsors, collaborators and partners are expected to conduct themselves with honesty and integrity at all times and have done so throughout the years. Nonetheless, it’s not uncommon for individuals who have been involved in any industry to have varied experiences and perspectives. While some past collaborators may have shared their opinions, our organization is still the leader in the industry, so it’s important to focus on the current operations and values of the Miss World Guyana franchise.

The Miss World Guyana organization is dedicated to maintaining a positive, professional, and supportive environment for all participants and collaborators. We are continuously working to improve and ensure that everyone involved has a constructive and rewarding experience.

As for those who have chosen to enter the pageantry business themselves, it’s a natural progression for some professionals in the industry as there is room for anyone who wants to make a positive impact, individually or collaboratively. Their new ventures do not diminish our commitment to excellence and integrity. We remain focused on our mission and values, and we are here to support our candidates and partners in every way possible.

If you have specific concerns or need further information, we encourage you to reach out directly to our team. We are committed to transparency and ensuring that your experience with Miss World Guyana is positive and fulfilling.

This is not an accurate observation. While it may appear that past national winners are not involved, it’s important to recognize that each individual’s journey and level of engagement with the franchise can vary after their reign.

We encourage you to take a look at our social media channels to see the support and involvement we consistently receive from our former winners, for which we are always appreciative and grateful. It’s worth noting that national winners often have numerous commitments and opportunities following their time with Miss World Guyana. Their post-reign activities, such as personal projects, professional endeavors, or other pursuits, can sometimes limit their ability to stay actively involved with the franchise. However, we deeply appreciate the contributions and support from our past winners and recognize the significant impact they’ve made.

Miss World Guyana is dedicated to creating a lasting and positive impact on both our candidates and the community. We encourage former winners to stay connected and contribute in ways that align with their interests and schedules. Our goal is to foster a supportive and empowering environment for current and future candidates.

We value your feedback and are open to exploring new ways to engage with our alumni. If you have specific suggestions or concerns, we welcome your input and are committed to finding opportunities for past winners to remain involved with the franchise.

It’s important to approach such statements with a critical mind. While opinions and perceptions can vary, it’s crucial to evaluate the situation based on facts and direct experiences rather than rumors or generalizations.

In any organization, including Miss World Guyana, there can be differing viewpoints. However, the current focus of the franchise is on professionalism, fairness, and supporting our candidates to achieve their best. As a young leader and positive change ambassador, it is expected that you read, understand and uphold the policies, regulations, and protocols of the Miss World Guyana competition. Posting grievances or concerns on social media without following due process is often seen as poor judgment and a lack of sportsmanship. This approach does not align with our procedures and can have significant negative impacts, including affecting sponsors, the industry, the sisterhood, your leadership position, reputation, and your legacy. Additionally, such actions undermine the integrity of the competition that your participation helps uphold.

While these actions might provide a temporary boost to your confidence, they do not accurately address the emotions you might experience after losing a competition. Reacting emotionally in public does not contribute positively to resolving your concerns. If you have substantial evidence of wrongdoing, there are established protocols that must be followed. We strongly encourage you to address any issues directly with the Miss World Guyana team through the appropriate channels and in accordance with our policies and protocols. Failure to follow this process may also have financial implications in the event of any breach of policy and violations which also includes family members airing grievances as per our policy

Improving your sportsmanship involves developing a positive and respectful attitude towards competition, regardless of the outcome. Here are some ways you can enhance your sportsmanship:

1. Embrace a Positive Attitude

  • Focus on Growth: View every competition as an opportunity for personal development and learning, rather than just a chance to win.
  • Stay Positive: Maintain an optimistic outlook, even in challenging situations. Encourage and support others, celebrating their achievements as well.

2. Respect Others

  • Respect Competitors: Treat your fellow competitors with kindness and respect. Acknowledge their skills and efforts, and avoid negative comments or behavior.
  • Honor the Rules: Adhere to the competition’s rules and guidelines. Playing by the rules shows respect for the game and its integrity.

3. Handle Wins and Losses Gracefully

  • Celebrate Humbly: When you win, do so with humility. Acknowledge the contributions and hard work of others.
  • Accept Losses with Dignity: If you don’t win, accept it graciously. Reflect on what you can learn from the experience and use it to improve.

4. Communicate Effectively

  • Address Issues Constructively: If you have concerns or grievances, address them through the proper channels and in a respectful manner.
  • Be a Good Listener: Listen to feedback and criticism with an open mind. Use it to grow and improve.

5. Support and Encourage

  • Be a Mentor: Support and encourage fellow competitors, especially those who may be struggling or new to the competition.

7. Reflect and Learn

  • Self-Reflection: Regularly reflect on your behavior and attitude. Consider how you can improve and make adjustments as needed.
  • Seek Feedback: Ask for feedback from mentors, coaches, or peers to gain insights into your sportsmanship and areas for improvement.

Improving sportsmanship is a continuous process that involves self-awareness, respect for others, and a commitment to personal growth. By focusing on these aspects, you can become a better competitor and a positive role model for others.

While it wouldn’t be the first time a candidate has chosen to withdraw, we want to emphasize the importance of your role as a change ambassador. Your commitment to your Beauty with a Purpose (BWAP) project and being a voice for those who have none is crucial. Dropping out, especially when your BWAP focuses on critical issues like domestic violence prevention, suicide prevention, or mental health awareness, can be detrimental to those causes and the people in need of support.

If you choose to embark on this journey, it must come from a place of genuine compassion and commitment to see it through to the end. The impact you can make is significant, and your dedication can inspire and help many others.

However, if you still feel the need to drop out, you will be required to submit a written resignation outlining your reasons for withdrawal. This will trigger an official press release that will be publicly released and direct notification to the Miss World organization.

Please note that any fees paid are non-refundable.

Paying the entrance fees is crucial for maintaining the quality and smooth operation of the Miss World Guyana competition. These fees help cover essential costs such as event logistics, administrative expenses, and other key aspects of the competition.

If the entrance fees are not paid, it can affect not only your eligibility to participate but also the overall quality of the competition. Without the necessary funding, programs and events might be altered, potentially impacting the experience of all candidates. This could lead to changes in event formats, reduced resources, or a less polished presentation.

We understand that financial concerns can arise, so if you are facing difficulties, we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible. We are here to assist and discuss possible solutions to ensure that you have the opportunity to participate fully and benefit from a high-quality competition experience.
