The National Cultural Centre came alive on 21st August, 2022 as the curtains came down on the Miss World Guyana 2022 national competition. The Grand Finale and Coronation ceremony was held live and in living color and saw a jam-packed programme filled with performances from local artistes, Miss World Guyana 2019, Joylyn Conway and the Miss World Guyana 2022 finalists. The ceremony also saw the announcement of winners in the various segments as well as the overall winner of the national competition.

The finalists Esther Marslowe, Emaley Nurse, Malinda Ho-A-Lim, Andrea King, Naina Pai, Shannan Sooklall, Arian Richmond, Raeshaunna Jones, Krystal Collymore and Trevlind Harry all squared off in the resort and evening wear competitions which rendered the audience delighted and cheerful as the designs were creative, captivating and accurately depicted each of their personalities. Featured performers included Nekeita, Kaiya and Unique Arts dancers who kept the audience entertained with their lively and energetic performances. 

The prestigious judging panel for the event included Dave Lalltoo, Natasha Martindale, Trevor Bassoo, Nigel Niles, Raghnie Narain, Devesh Persaud, Alana Ramson, Mischka White-Griffith and Chelesia Wyatt. Some of the winners included Esther Marslowe, regional ambassador for Region One Barima-Waini who was declared winner of the Sports and Fitness competition while Trevlind Harry, regional ambassador for Region Ten, Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice emerged as the winner of the Top Model competition. Naina Pai, regional ambassador for Region Five, Mahaica-Berbice copped the title of Beauty With A Purpose winner with her impactful and creative project “Reading on the Road,” a mobile library that seeks to increase reading and literacy amongst young children in Region Five. Her project raised GYD$3.1 million dollars and has since made a tremendous impact on the lives of young children in the region. Andrea King, regional ambassador for Region Four, Demerara-Mahaica and winner of the Miss World Guyana 2022 national competition also walked away as winner of the Talent, Head to Head/Debate and Multimedia competitions as well as the People’s Choice award. 

Ms. King, a well rounded, purpose-driven twenty five year old and former student of Bishops High School was bestowed the coveted Victoria Regia crown which was carefully and creatively designed by the awesomely talented twenty year-old jeweler, Sachin Ramdehol from DS Ramdehol and Son. She also walked away with a grand prize totalling over $GYD 5.5 million which includes a brand new car, GYD$500,000 cash and designer wardrobe to name a few. 

A project manager by profession at the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company, Ms. King will represent Guyana as its newest ambassador on the Miss World International stage where she will compete with winning candidates from over one hundred and ten countries for the coveted Miss World crown. The date and venue of the international competition will be announced at a later date.
